Deciding on a cool name for your new pet can be harder than it seems. For instance if you are going to keep this pet for a long time you are going to want to get a name that you will still like years down the line. If you were to get a cockatoo you will need to think of a name that may last upwards of 80 years. This article shows you some advice on naming your pets.

Firstly, you should choose a name that isn’t too long or has too many syllables. This is an important point; you won’t want to call out a long name every time you call to your pet. It is also very important for the pet as long names can be hard for your pet to recognize quickly. A long name such as ‘Abbie Aggy’ will probably be more confusing that ‘Kat’. This obviously depends on the pet, but as a rule of thumb long names aren’t usually a great idea.

Secondly, it is also a good idea to not name the pet rude or embarrassing names. Names such as ‘Captain Death’ may be embarrassing calling out in the park; also you may not like these names years later so be careful.

1. By the end of summer, my Australian Shepherd’s coat is always full of burrs and foxtails and I have to clip all his hairs off. How can I keep the burrs out when he runs out in the countryside all the time?

Brushing him thoroughly everyday is the only solution, although not exactly an easy job. The chances are that if you haven’t done it up till now you wouldn’t be inclined to keep it up. Why let him spend a miserable summer full of painful sticker only to clip his hair off just when he needs it at the beginning of a cold season?

Have him clipped short in late spring or early summer-before the weeds dry up. He’ll come through the summer happier and have some hair grown back by winter.

The Emerald Tree Boa is a snake from South America. There are two varieties of this snake ?the Amazon Basin and the Surinan, named for the natural habitat in which they are found. Even though they both share the same sub-species snake name, they are completely different from each other.

The Surinam variety of the sub-species is a long snake and is more lime green in color. There are also dominant patches of yellow on the skin and the dorsal markings are broken white shades of white mixed in with blue, giving a sawtooth pattern. It has large plates on the head. This snake is very irritable and is harder to tame than the Amazon Basin variety.

The Amazon Basin snake, on the other hand, is a true emerald color and tends to have more of a square shape to its body. The color tends to darken as the snake matures, so much so that some adults of this sub-species appear almost black in color. The dorsal markings are white and are almost connected and there are vibrant yellow colors on the underside and labials. The snout area of the head is covered with small scales. This snake is the best one to choose as a pet because it is very docile and easy to train.

A Brazilian Rainbow Boa will thrive in captivity as long as you keep it clean, safe and well fed. The typical size of an adult on this variety of snake is from four to seven feet although there have been some that grew to a length of twenty feet. For this reason, this snake needs lots of space in which it can move about freely. Along with a large cage, you need to keep the humidity in the cage quite high and always have a bowl of fresh water inside. During the day, these snakes need an average temperature of 26 to 29 and even though you can lower the temperature at night you shouldn’t have it any lower than 24. An aquarium intended to hold 40 – 60 gallons of water should be quite sufficient.

The substrate you use in the cage should be one that holds the humidity quite well. Canadian peat moss is one that most herpers use with this subspecies of rainbow snake. The diet can be entirely made up of mice that are equal to the size of the snake girth. You can also feed your snake small rats. You should never feed live food to the snake because of the possibility of danger to your pet. If you find that you pet seems to be off its food and is not eating as it regularly did, try taking it outdoors. Experts will tell you that the fresh air seems to revive the boa appetite.

Snakes are very easy pets to keep because they do not require daily exercise outside the cage. They will spend their entire life in the cage quite happily, which is why you should to make the cage as close to the natural snake habitat as possible. In order to so this, you need to do some research on what this habitat looks like in the wild so that you can have similar features in the enclosure.

There are certain elements of this cage habitat that are extremely important in keeping your pet snake healthy. The most important one is the temperature and the humidity of the cage. Snakes are reptiles and cold-blooded, which means they cannot generate their own body heat to keep them warm. Their bodies adapt to the temperature of the air around them.

Whatever type of cage you decide to use should have a temperature control and a thermostat so that you can raise and lower the temperature when needed. In the natural habitat, when they get too warm they move to a colder area where they can cool down. If you keep the temperature in the cage steady in the range of 25 – 30, this is the perfect temperature during the day and you can lower it to about 24 at night. You still need to have cooler places in the cage to which the snake can move when necessary.

Understanding the effect of the system in marine environments is the key to mastering fish keeping.

One of the leased talked about issues in marine aquarium keeping is the need to facilitate the functioning of a fish’s osmoregulation system. The osmoregulation system is responsible for maintaining a healthy balance of fluids and salts within the fish itself.

The higher the amount of salt in the water the harder the osmoregulation system has to work to maintain correct levels of salt and other minerals within the fish, so the higher the osmotic pressure.

The salt levels a fish can tolerate will depend on the environment from which the fish has evolved. Freshwater fish can only handle very low osmotic pressure compared to saltwater fish which are used to withstanding a higher level. Some fish are able to tolerate huge changes in salt level and osmotic pressure allowing them to travel from the salt water oceans, up the waters of freshwater rivers. Fish that commonly live in both fresh and salt water are known as brackish water fish.
There are also many salt water fish that will venture into fresh water at specific points in their lives. Many marine fish such as Salmon will travel right up fast following freshwater rivers to breed allowing their young to grow up in safer stream nurseries away from the threats lurking in the oceans. Once the offspring are large enough they will return to the sea where there is adequate food for them to grow and thrive.
