Red eared sliders are unique in their own way and therefore require different things to take care of them properly. When it comes to their diet you have to make sure that you are feeding them a mixture of both plant and animal materials.

Taking on a pet requires a certain level of commitment. For the most part, you will be responsible for the safety and well-being of another creature. Taking care of a turtle is no easy task. Choosing from among the types of pet turtles will entail careful thought. You will want to select a pet whose lifestyle can easily fit in with your own way of living. Here are three common types of pet turtles that you can consider rearing.

Box turtles

The box turtle is one of the more popular types of pet turtles that are found practically all over the world. Wherever there are damp, mossy areas, one is sure to find a box turtle inhabiting the land. These types of pet turtles are pretty territorial and are required to stay near their place of birth for their entire lifetime. As a matter of fact, if you try to remove a box turtle to another area half a mile from where it was born, it acquires the tendency to systematically search for its former habitat. It may not be able to find its way back to its old home but it will spend most of its life looking for it. This is one of those types of pet turtles that you will want to be cautious about because you need to create a living environment that is very similar to its old habitat. A box turtle is omnivorous so it can live off of insects, berries and various types of food products. They are ideal pets for people who live in the country because it is easier to recreate their natural habitat.

Good Reptile Cages for Transportation

Posted by: danny  :  Category: General Pets, Turtle

I’m driving across the country with my small menagerie this summer to make the move from Seattle to Tampa. I already have cages from my cats’ many trips to the vet, but I usually just put my bearded dragon in my lap when I take him. I needed to find a cage that he would be comfortable in for the long drive. I checked my favorite website to see what the reviews on reptile cages were and was able to find a few that look like they will work. The next step is a trip to my pet store to see which ones they have and ask a few more questions.

My ball python is a rescue pet and I hate to admit it, but I don’t know very much about taking care of him. I feed him regularly and keep his cage clean and warm, but outside of that I don’t know much else. Luckily for me, he seems healthy and happy nonetheless. The problem came when I smashed one of the glass panels of his aquarium while cleaning it. At this point, since I needed to get a new aquarium, I wasn’t sure if I should get a larger one or not. Fortunately, I found this site that has reviews on reptile aquariums that I used to help me narrow down my choices.
